December 31, 2006

I’ve started looking into going out of State for the IVF. This area is just so high and if we can save money by doing it somewhere else then I’m willing to travel. I’ve looked into San Francisco (about the same price as here) looked into Houston and Portland. I emailed Julie and asked her about their clinic and it looks really good. I think it helps knowing someone who has gone there. I really want to check this clinic out.

December 15, 2006

What a rotten week first I find out I’m not going to be able to start the IVF process then I get really sick and of course my husband doesn’t want to take care of me (he doesn’t want to get sick) so I spend the whole day with the shivers, vomiting and my throat so soar. Finally the next day I’m finally ok enough that I’m able to drive myself to the doctors. Turns out I have strep throat (BAD strep throat) the doctor actually jumped away from me and left the room. She left my prescription form at the front desk. My throat was so swollen I could barely breathe through it… I’m sure I snored so loud.

By today I’m feeling a little bit better about everything. I emailed Julie and asked her about costs… just in case this is the same rate all over the united States. She said that the prices they quoted us were steep and gave me a great web site to check out and some other great advice.

December 12, 2006

We went a saw Dr. Elsner today. We met with her for about 30 minutes and she explained everything and answered our questions. She said that there was a clinical test going on that I could be a part of because of my age it would lower the cost. But I really don’t want to be a lab rat… I just want a baby, and if it isn’t guaranteed to work I don’t want to dump all that money into it (we would only save like $3,000). Also during our appointment she got a call on her cell phone and picked it up and started talking with her daughter she was also trying to get Tyler to read a book the whole time. Tyler wasn’t all that impressed with her… I liked her… if she can give me a baby then I like her. We then went and talked with a nurse about blood work and giving myself the shots. They were eager to start right away and that got me all excited. Then we went to the financial department to talk about finances and unlike we had thought earlier non of this was covered by insurance except for a few things but they said that they wanted the money up front and most insurance companies wouldn’t reimburse this once it had already been done. We realized after meeting with them that we were not going to be able to start as soon as we had hoped and we were going to have to save for another 9 months.
I went home and sobbed my eyes out. All I want is a baby!!! My baby… NOW!!!

Tyler had his appointment with the urologist for a semen analysis. I’ll see if I can get him to say what it was like.
